There is a war in Iraq.

The Green Zone is one of the safest place in Iraq. Protected on two sides by the widewaters of the Tigris and surrounded by high cement walls, it sits in the middle of Baghdad and is home to thousands of people. 'Living here is like living in Europe.' says Haider Hassan, a store clerk at a hotel inside the Green Zone.

But these days hell is starting to feel a lot closer. Even as the U.S. boosts its military presence in Baghdad, violence across Iraq has remained implacable-evidenced most dramatically on Monday in Diyala province, north of Baghdad, when a suicide bomber killed nine U.S. soldiers, one of the deadliest attacks against the military since the war began. Since the start of the U.S. surge, those kinds of incurgent strikes have become more requent in areas outside the capital. Some U.S. soldiers have orders not to travel through the area alone of fear of kidnapping. On March 27, a rocket landed in the complex of housing trailers near the U.S. embassy, killing a U.S. soldier.

Security forces were tipped off to the location of two suicide vests, and rumors floated that authorities were looking for a third. That missing vest may have been worn by the suicide bomber who killed one Iraqi politician and wounded 22 in the parliament cafeteria on April1 12- an attack that shattered any remaining notion that life in the walled city could go untouched by the battles raging outside. After the bombing, Lieut. Colonel Christopher Garver, a U.S. military spokesman, said, 'The Green Zone is not safe.'

letz be His hands and feet together

Verse 1:

it is not a human right to stare, not fight
while broken nations dream
open up our eyes so blind that we might find
the mercy for the need

PreChorus:

hey now
fill our hearts with Your compassion
hey now
as we hold to our confession

Verse 2:

it is not too far a cry, too much to try
to help the least of these
politics will not decide if we should rise
and be Your hands and feet

Chorus:

whoa oh oh
God be the solution
whoa oh oh
we will be your hands and be Your feet

Verse 3:

higher than all circumstance You promised then
Your love for all to see
higher than our protest lines and dollar signs
Your love is all we need

Bridge 1:

only You can mend the broken heart
and cause the blind to see
Your grace completes the sinners path
and set the captives free
only You can take the widow's cry
and cause her heart to sing
be the father to the fatherless
our Savior and our King

Bridge 2:

we will be Your hand we will be Your feet
we will run this race for the least of these
in the darkest place we will be Your light
we will be Your light

Tag:

we will run
we will run
we will run with the solution
